same old story....
« on: 12 March 2009, 23:35 »
since fitting the RCs I have really noticed the fuel economy dropping- was happily doing 52 on my run to work, now doing 48.  Not a lot but noticable.  Has anyone had anything similar? And what did you do about it??  Wheels still need aligning properly- its pulling to one side, but that shouldn't make any difference, and pressures are at 34psi so that won't be it. Any ideas?  The wheels are only 2kg more per wheel that monty2s, so not sure whats happening.

To be honest i have never paid to much attention to how many miles i get to the gallon. I know i got 400 miles to a tank before my wheel change, suspension change and remap and i still get 400 miles to a tank.

Wheels still need aligning properly...wheels are only 2kg more per wheel...

With un-aligned wheels, your rolling resistance is much greater, so the engine has to push harder.

If your wheels weigh 2kgs more, its not so much that you'd added 8kgs to the car, but you've made the drivetrain work harder because now it needs to make a heavier weight rotate.

I think you've answered your own question ;)

I got 55mpg today driving at 75 with a few sprinted runs, loving this warmer weather, car stays clean and a rise in mpg
