gears

hi my gears on my gti 16v r sloppy and hard sometime to get in gear what can it be

gear linkage, gear alignment, gear oil.

Go to GSF, buy a gear linkage repair kit, fit it.
Go to ebay, and buy gear linkage repair tool (about £2), align the gears.
Go to any motors factory and buy some gear oil for VW golf, top it up.

that should leave your gears nice and smooth and direct again.

ok thanks did phone gsf 2day they say they dont list gear linkage repair kit for the mk3

dont know about the 16v, due to hydraulic clutch, but on my 8v i used the kit from a mk2, its the same gearbox (020)

02A Gearbox on the 16v.

I don't think the MK2 linkage kit will be of use. They are for rod change gearboxs, and you have a cable change box.
