Was meant to be a good day!!! (vw service)
« on: 11 March 2009, 13:10 »
Arhhh, not only have i been up all night transplanting, took the turbo to VW this morning so she could have a pamper (40k service and cambelt), just had a call, some prick who's done the service before has cross threaded the sump plug, so new sump for me!

Not to bad at £150 all in, but they havent got one in stock and havent got me a courtesey car so ive i gotta take it back another day for the service, (hassle!!!) they're half way through the cambelt (knackered the crank pulley bolts or sumert, but they have them in stock) so at least that'll keep my mind at rest.

Joys of mk4 ownership! lol

They probably buggered the thread themselves.. but you'll never prove it. Happens all the time. They should be able to just helicoil it though, no need for a new sump at all. Unless they've already done it..

Yeah main dealer!

It was leaking from the plug anyway, so asked them to put a new plug in, i cant work out how they knew it was knackered without taking the plug out, unless it just spins :undecided:

Best bit was, i told the woman this morning, saw her write it down, i said it's got a K+N panel filter in at the mo, could you just pop it in the boot when you put the standard element in, and they rang me to tell me this!

yup mine seems to be weaping a little oil. Had a quick look unda  and looks like the seal on the sump plug has perished. So job for the weekend.
