Lowering decision, 60/40 or 40/40
« on: 11 March 2009, 09:56 »
I've got up to £200 to spend on a lowering kit - i can predict now that 90% of you will say get hot tuning coilies but i don't want them, don't have the time to bugger around getting the height the same each side etc etc..  I just want to fit a kit and get on with the rest of my life!!

So i'm looking at fixed spring and shock kits on both Ebay (Jamex) and the few that Venom do online.

Now the standard Mk3 front end looks ridiculously high so i'm not sure if i should go for a 40/40ish kit or go for a 60/40 to make sure the front comes down.

BUT - would 60 on the front be too much for a daily car?  Is it going to cause me lots of grounding issues as i'd rather have the front a bit higher if that's the case!!

Also any recommendations; Jamex, Pi, Supersport, Venoms own - or other??

Go for a 60/40 drop gives a much better stance and you will not have any issues mine was a lot lower than that on the front.

The kits from Venom will be fine.

Thanks Wayned, didn't think 60 would be to much of an issue as people seem to run a lot lower but want to be sure!

Mine was 85 drop on the front with no real problems use to catch the spoiler on speed bumps but thats it to be honest.

I am sure Venom do a 60/40 kit.

You shouldnt have any problems with a 60 drop at the front! Unless you are using very wide tyres!

Just do one thing though! Once fitted go to a good place and get the steering geometry checked and adjusted. Not just tracking but camber and toe as well.

I got a 60/40 supersport kit off egay for my old car

No complaints whatsoever, was actually one of the most comfortable kits I've ever owned

9x16 wheels all round. Pictures say it all ;)
