2.0T question - but Audi (sorry)
« on: 10 March 2009, 21:59 »
so i've read the ed30 has k04 and other bits similar to the s3, but i was wondering do any of you know anything about the 2.0T DTM A4, as it packs 220bhp standard over normal 200bhp like the gti?

You'd be better on audisport net with that question. Or, the vwaudi forum.

I haven't got a clue.

T_T!!!?

The A4 DTM Edition is one of the variants which I don't have any data for yet.  If someone wants to PM me a VIN, then I can add that to my spreadsheet.  And if anyone has any info on the 170PS 2.0TFSI from the Audi A6, that would also be helpful.

But I doubt the vwaudi forum would have such detailed info on the 2.0TFSI - as their 'resident' Audi tech is an A8 specialist.

Actually, just had a very quick look on ETKA, and the DTM Ed BUL engine is basically the same as the standard GTI BWA engine - with the K03 turbo.

And it is time for my pit.

Same engine as the GTI.  Twopence worth of software to up the hp by 20.  £5,000 on the price of the normal S A4.

Marketing rip off model.

I think you'll find it was a bit more than that...

The Audi will be a bit slower than the Golf as the Quattro slows things down a bit and the Audi will be heavier. Not an awful lot in it though if everyday driving...

Yeah, I do remember reading the official press release for the DTM, which basically stated it was just a software tweak.

Why, do you have a DTM, or are you thinking of getting one?

Anyway, the A4 Avant will be slightly slower acceleration-wise, because they are a tad heavier than the GTI.  But top speed - the A4 would probably have it over the GTI, due to the better aerodynamics (the A4 saloon would be faster than the Avant though ).

Handling-wise - well the B7 A4 range are very good actually, even the Avants.  Their suspension geometery and servotronic steering are just about spot on - and unless you get a GTI with sorted suspension - then there would be little between them.
