i broke it... now i`m stuck.. (electrical) please help

while looking for a permenant live for my boot pop this evening i pulled down the fuse box from behind the dash.. i buzzed a few wires to look for one which seemed permenant.. i found one.. which seems so go to the electric window thermal fuse...anyhow, using scotch clips i decided i was going to use it.. i pushed the fuse box back up and could then smell an electrical burning (nothing was actually connected to make a curcuit but i think the metal on the scotch clip fused with all the steel behind the dash)... this pissed me off..
i pulled it back down to discover that the wire (going to thermal fuse) had melted quite badly..
now i have no dipped beam or electric windows..  what would cause both of these to go?. i have checked the fuse for the dipped (fuse 1 and 2 ) i hope i dont have to go pulling the whole dash out now..

You may have burnt the loom further back.

all fixed now, the dipped beam was just a connector that had popped out and the electric windows was the burnt bit of loom itself ( the connector itself had had it. i crimped a new spade connector on and its all working a treat now.. even the boot pop
