Hotrod’s detail present... ED30
« on: 07 March 2009, 20:07 »
Well guys, my car’s a year old this week, so I thought I’d treat it to some tlc. I asked my buddy Tim from Envy Valeting to come and work his magic... and today was the day.

Thankfully the weather was fine (even sunny for a couple of hours) and Tim spent nearly 8hrs on an external and internal detail. Products used were either Espuma or DoDo and I’m dead chuffed with the results.

I’ve put a link below showing the process, I didn’t stand outside for the whole day (so there’s a couple of processes missing in the photo montage), however it went something like this...

Wash the wheels with Espuma Revolution and rinse. Pre-soak the car with Espuma Activo foaming TFR, allow to dwell and rinse. Foam the vehicle with Envy snow foam and rinse. Wash the vehicle with a lamb’s wool wash mitt, 2 buckets; Born to be mild shampoo and grit guards. Rinse and dry with a drying towel. Clay the vehicles using Dodo Juice gentle grey and water as lube. Cleanse the paint using Dodo Juice Lime prime lite Pre wax cleanser. Apply Dodo Juice Supernatural carnauba wax and buff. Clean the glass externally and seal with G1 sealent. Dress tyres. Hoover interior. Cleanse and condition leather. Dress plastics, clean internal glass including vanity mirrors. Job Done!

enjoy...

Hope this Photobucket thing works first time I’ve done it!

Cheers... Hotrod

Looks fantastic. :)

Was it pricey? a simple yes or no will suffice - wouldn't be so rude as to ask the actual price!!!

Actually, that sounds just about the right level of detailing for my taste.

I'm afraid I just don't understand the extremes which some people go to to clean their car. I actually don't like ultra shiny cars - They don't look real. And what a waste of money when they quickly get dirty in UK weather just a few days later (unless you don't drive it!).

I can understand using a professional detailer when selling your car.

The great thing is that I can now just quick clean it every 2-weeks and it cuts down on the amount of time I have to spend on it. Tim will return in the summer for a top-up detail.

I’m getting a snowfoam lance shortly so it should be apply foam, rinse off, dry and drive!

Yes, what you are doing makes great sense. It takes me about 2 hrs each time I handwash my car and that's only rinse > Meg's shampoo + lambswool mitt > rinse > micro cloth, and spray + wipe glass.

If I know I've got a journey in a couple of days and the weather is looking dodgy, I don't bother to clean until the next good weather spell.

Would you be kind enough to either PM or email me contact info and typical price for the guy you used, please, Steve :afro:
