1991 8v Gti Top Suspension Mounts

Hope you lot can help!

I have got some Koni adjustables on order for my beast and i want to replace the suspension top mounts whilst the suspension is off.

I have heard that G60 mounts can be fitted, i have had a look on the German and Sweedish car suppliers website and have found these two!

45709A STRUT TOP MOUNTING G2 G60 4/90 >7/91 11.25
45709AC STRUT TOP MOUNTING G2 G60 4/90 >7/91 3.41

Can anybody shed some light on this for me, or does anybody know where else i could get some from? I live in Nottingham if it's any help!

I don't know how true this is, but i thought someone said that all Mk2's have the same top mounts. From what I can tell - they don't do anything other than house a ball race that allows you to steer.

Can this be true?

I was wondering if there was any benefit to fitting any other mounts........its not like they do a lot really.......is it?

I shall not be buying from GSF then!

I had seen (i think!) somewhere that the G60 mounts were a lot stiffer and could take more abuse than the standard 8v mounts but i could be mistaken.

My car has got it's mot in three weeks and the only thing i think it could fail on is the suspension, it is well past it's best! It's really just an excuse to fit some new suspension and whilst it is in the process i just want to make sure everything is done properly otherwise i may have to get my mountain bike dusted off

I was also going to fit the relevent (suspension) bushes, are these worthwhile?

I've had no problems with GSF parts..........been using them since they started up.

I don't know what to do now as GSF sell the part i need for about ?12 i think and after looking on the TSR website they sell them for ?50 without vat!

I usually get my parts from Euro Car Parts but they don't sell the G60 bits i need.

I know i am probabaly better off going to TSR but surely there can't be that much difference between the two!

I think you'll find that GSF and eurocarparts are much the same.........hey for ?12 isn't it worth the gamble?

I have finally ordered some, i ordered them for TSR. I thought it better to be safe than sorry, and seeing as my car is having the suspension fitted on Saturday . They are genuine VAG items from TSR so thats why they were so pricey!
