running probs

Got a 1.8 20v t that hesitates when driving and idle goes up and down,had it put on a diag machine and came back with 4 intermitent codes

Air flow meter

lambda sensor

fuel too rich bank 1

mapping error cooling system,check thermo stat and temp sensor

the guy cleared the codes and said someone may have been taking off plugs trying to find fault so put some miles on it and come back for another check

I'm gonna start by replacing the temp sensor,cheapest option first and quite a common prob by what I can see.

having a bit of a job getting the right sensor,should have the right one at lunchtime tomorrow so fingers crossed should sort things out

also have a hazzard switch on the way,indicators have stopped working ! I've only had the car a week and everything is going pete tong

brake pad indicator has come up as well now,someone knew when to get rid of their car eh!

any advice greatly needed !

yeah I think maf too now,put the temp sensor in and no change,unplugged maf and the idle sorts itself,so got a maf on order.

also found a split vacum pipe to servo,got some over priced pipe and sorted that,it was bringing up traction contrl light

fitted new hazzard switch and have indicators again whoop whoop,so now I can start squeezing some extra horses out

Also it is advisable to remove and clean both the throttle body and boost sensor, you should find the sensor below the inlet manifold on a hard pipe near the alternator

 :cry:well tried fitting a new maf today but actually made things worse,stalls when stopping.its a cheap non gen,got a feeling its no good!

yet when taking off the plug to the maf it idles lovely,its going into a garage for diags on thursday

traction control light coming on once in a while as well a pad wear warning,havent checked pads for wear but getting a feeling there is an electrical fault somewhere.getting fed up with it big time

Where did you buy the Maf from? Ebay? eurocarparts?

Need to try a genuine one as so many people have had the same trouble as you

i have a similar problem, is it ok to unplug the maf and run it to see if this is the problem, how far is it ok to run with it unplugged? few miles?

its fine to unplug it, when I have on mine I cant get above 70 and it takes two weeks to get there so it doesn't stay unplugged for long
