I have heard that a mk2 gti can possibly outperform a MK5?

It would have to be a heavily modded Mk2 to beat a Mk5 GTI. End of story.

Not really true.

A mk2 only weighs 850kg and rebuilt 16v engine with a few bits lightened and the rev limiter lifted could dick a mk5 no worries. They are only 200bhp in a 1400kg car, do the math ;)

oh and the cost to do that to a mk2 is pocket change compared to how much a mk5 gti is atm. I'd say mk2 with a couple of k to spare FTW!

Are you sure the MK2 is really only 850 Kgs? The Polo G40 was a spot more than that, and it was a 1.3 and about a 1/3 the size.

Lol!

Ok irrespective of whether it can out perform out "break" a MK5 it does not matter too much....Just wanted an idication of what sort of power the MK2 had...

Guys.... Tell me..... How does a MK2 16V compare to a MK3 VR6?

A little bit slower and doesn't sound anywhere near as good.
