Blimey, quite the welcoming committee! Right, better do my bit and get some facts down. To deal with the Golf first, its a '95 model 5-door. Its completely standard except for the removal of the GTI and 16V badges; so much better for creeping up on unsuspecting "victims", MMWAHAHA!! As for the colour, not sure what VW called it but its basically very dark metallic purple. This, together with a plate ending XTC, has lead to the car being named "The Purple Haze". As I said, the car is standard at the moment and will likely stay that way for now as I've got another project on. Fiddling may occur in the future, however. I must confess to idly pondering the possibility of pepping the old girl up a bit with the supercharger off a Merc SLK 230...

As for other auto-nonsense in my life, the Mini is a 1981 998cc version with a few tweaks and mods. Now used mainly for the odd summer Sunday morning blast and occasional track spanking. Major (see also all-consuming, life-dominating, woman-dettering) project is the build of a mid-engined, Toyota 4AGE propelled hillclimb/sprint Seven. Like all the best people, I have neither the time nor the money for this escapade but am carrying on anyway, sustained by naught but optimism and tea!

Is the 4AGE off an AE92 by any chance? Do you have any pics of the 7 on another forum? And nice alloys on the mk3 by the way! I know I shouldn't say this but the power out of that 1.6 16v was wow! I bet that 7 will shift! My AE92 was my first Gti so I get a bit nostalgic... didn't handle like the Mk2 Golf thou!

My 4AGE is out of a Mk.1 MR2. Chose that one as it and its trans are already set up for a middie, making it (theoretically at least) nearer to being a plug and play installation. As for how well it will go, initial aim is 120bhp and 500kg; enough for interest but not too terrifying. That can come later. Hell, maybe I ought to build a 'Dub powered version. A mid-engined R32 powered Seven, wouldn't that be a tool?!

I thought the Mk1 MR2 engine was 122bhp standard? But 240bhp per tonne is going to be a v.quick car. R32 powered would be interesting, especially in the wet!

I'm starting to feel at risk of banging on about Toyotas far too much for a VW forum but you did ask! I've heard various bhp figures for the Mk.1 Mister Two, some just under 120, some just over. I'm just 120 as a round figure for calculations. It may be that I'll have a bit more from the off as packaging considerations are going to force me into doing non-standard, probably less restrictive, induction and exhaust arrangements but time will tell.
