do vw make a non GTI 1.8t??? if anyone could help me as im really confused, i heard from peoplpe that they do an from others they dont...

1.8T =  turbo
1.8 = n/a

both in GTI form

They might be getting confused with the Golf's cousin - the Seat Leon.

They do a 1.8T version of that, but it's just badged up Leon 20vT not Cupra or anything exciting - looks bog standard from the outside too.  My neighbour's got one.

Try quotes for a A3 1.8T - Might be cheaper?? :undecided:

I've only once seen a 1.8T that wasn't GTI spec. Never had a chance to ask the owner if it was an import or engine conversion (although the latter is unlikely because the mk4 had only been out 2-3 years at that point)

bloke at work has a mint y plate 2001 GTi 2.0l 8v thats an import from africa full uk gti spec etc but not a gti on the v5

The 2.0 8v wasnt classed as a GTI outside the UK but was called a "Highline" which is probably why it isnt on the v5. I can only assume VW called it a GTI so that people over here would buy it and then realised they have bought a really slow car :(

You could get a 1.8T estate, or a Bora.

They also did a Bora ST with 180 bhp
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
