My mates Dave and Bob removed two engines and put the new one in roughly two days!

Good job you're not paying lol

Thats because they are called Dave and Bob, they couldn't be more blokey names. I bet they eat vindaloos, live for football and have a minimum of 8 cans of lagar in the fridge

I think they said one of the main bearing was in bits as well. That could be included in the price.

I guess it's one of those areas where they can charge what they like, I guess it would be hard to find another source. Can't be that many in scrappers.

£1400 !!!!!!, you could buy a derv Mk4 for that!! :lipsrsealed:

only an accident damaged one and even that will produce less smoke than an ED30  :lipsrsealed:

Nope.  Neither of them like football and don't drink much either.  They just happen to have some clue rather than none about what they're doing

bigger isn't always better  but we digress

I think the dealers are trying to pay off their outstanding Parts bill to Vw by submitting a Warranty claim to clear their own debt!

they will only get cost plus whatever % agreed (normally between 10% and 30%) so can't really see how they are fudging the figures unless they are replacing the clutch when it doesn't need it but i for one would want it replaced for peace of mind

And................

The car goes back to the garage for a few more days.

More vibrations, they reckon an engine mount has died. Probably in refitting the engine, as they had to put a new rad in as well.
