Hi guys ive just brough home a 54 plate golf mk5 gti, been told its had a re-map and chip and running 268bhp,sure feels quick. My previous car was a 260 gsr evo8 and these feels faster in a straight line. Got to say im very impressed as a whole. Is there anything i need to look out for and any faults that usually happen? Its in need of some brake discs and maybe a couple of replacement 17inch alloys, where is best place to get these.

Cheers guys

Welcome to the forum! :afro:

It's refreshing to hear that someone has been happy to buy a GTI which has been remapped.

If she's running about 268 bhp I'm thinking she might have a performance exhaust such as a Milltek and possibly an aftermarket air intake.

I would stretch to buy Monza II's if I were you, can see you picking up a couple of 17" alloys without having to buy a set anyway.
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

Welcome Welcome !!

As Robin said if its running 268 then it will have had more than just a remap and have had the extra bits he said like exhaust and air intake. You could easily check these yourself? If it doesnt then he might have been exaggerating the BHP claim a little.

donny_daz, you need to find out which tuner's remap is on your car too.

Say for example that when VW servicing, there's an ECU update, it's likely to 'wipe' or de-activate your remap. If you don't know whose remap, then how are you going to get it re-flashed?
