Having made the small leap to the R32 setup myself I do find them 'grabby' at low speeds, this can be a pain but when req they do the job for me.

Good thread, I thought I'd join up and say so!

I only got my GTI 2 weeks ago and have found the brakes to be pretty dangerous.  On one particular day, it felt like I had an airlock, they did nothing til I stamped on them!

My previous car was an Ibiza Cupra TDI, with 4 pot APs at the front and piddly solid crap at the back.  It did the job when needed, but on serious braking it would get a bit wobbly.  I imagine this is what k4ith is experiencing.  It sounds like the S3 setup's the way to go.

I take it due to cost cutting, Leons get solid discs?

Also, the previous owner of my GTI thought it was a good idea to swap the 18s for 17s.  I assume I'm gonna need some more 18s to fit over the brakes?

Thanks!
Tom

IIRC Someone over on seat-cupra.net (think thats the site) someone can get the Cupra setup for £555 brand new with everything you need.

Dont the rear S3/R32 brakes need something doing to the GTI hubs seen as they are coming from an AWD car?
sorry but my vaux looks far better than the mk5 gti, thats why i bought it  faster too

Depends on the wheels. In the U.S i've seen plenty of R32 owners using 17" winter wheels. You might need spacers but that will depend on the offset of your wheels.

Thanks for the advice guys! :)

SEATCupra.net was my last home, I'll check that out!

The wheels are just the 17" Monzas, but I do have a set of Merc 18s in my cellar in case of emergencies.  They are super rare though, so I'd rather not use them all year round!
