indeed. TBH, its a stupid fashion and i dont see the point of risking £30 and points and getting car unregistered just becuase you think german plates look cool. Stick to Standard UK plates or the most UK font and sized numbers and letters on pressed metal plates, even then id say stick to standard acrylic plates, its not THAT much of an improvement tbh....

I resent that lol! I can bet you wouldn't say that if you saw them in the flesh, on pics they aren't done justice, they are alot better in person :)

As above, I have always thought acrylic plates looked better, yes I had pressed plates once but not that keen on them.

i dont give a fark on whats legal or not, but one thing, why do people wanna look like a jerry, we are fookin english, be proud of that is what i say, and our plates look a hell of alot better than that daft jerry font...

never realised there were different plates in england than from the rest of the uk.

anyway - everyone here has changed their tune. next year hids will be getting ripped out as the fines roll in?

It has helped with the fact fines were coming in thick and fast for most people, and it's just not worth it, if like me you still want the pressed plate look there are facilities that legally do it :)

As for HIDs, I was going to get them for my Hella Twins but thinking about it, they probably will whack a massive fine on if you're caught with them in the wrong car, and again, don't think I wanna be the first person coming onto the site saying:

"£75 for being caught with my HIDs on, this is bullcrap, where's the justice??!?!!!"

So instead I'll just get some better bulbs, legal and no fines :)

mind that hids are potentially dangerous whereas metal plates with different writing are not (unless you count scratching pedestrians, but then that would be the least of their worries)

Different writing apparently doesn't get recognised by the [poorly written] ANPR software (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) meaning they can't issue any money making fines. Obviously they don't want to issue fines to foreign drivers

And the choice to run different number plates wasn't made by me, but the previous numpty owner.

That is and always has been the issue, if you pass an ANPR camera and it cannot read your reg they will pull you over it was why I got stopped and fined twice.

Hey peeps just thought i'd let you in on this one, I know like myself lots of you out there are/were using German plates and thinking f**k it i'll take the chance, well i've now been nicked for the second time, first time ticket outside my house overnight whilst i was inside, and second time pulled up by the filth, both times £30! since getting done the second time i've recieved a warning letter from DVLA stating that if i'm nicked again my car's automaticaly wiped off the system and iv'e been told the cost of re-registering is £300/£400!! so folks kind word of advice.............. is it really worth it??

so... not only did you have non-UK font, but you also had a dash inserted and also a 'D' Euro flag... and you didn't expect to get pulled up for it??

not only that... after you were done for it the first time... you kept it on!

genius. absolute genuis.
