Update 22/09/09 :
Picked Up The Correct Air Duct This Morning From Trade Parts Specialists So After Collecting It Set To To Get It All Installed This Afternoon Spent Some Time Also Once Everything Was Removed Etc Having Abit Of A Clean Around That Area So All In I Would Say Took Around 3 Hours (Inc Waiting For The Silicone Sealant To Dry) Also Decided That I Would Not Be Re-Fitting The Trumpet That Goes In The Top Of The Air Box Cover (Where The Maf Locates) To See How It Performs Well Tbh I Am Impressed With The Change It Has Made Over The Induction Kit It Seems More Responsive And Pulls Better Through The Revs
And Still Have An Oem Filter Fitted Until I Order The Pipercross Panel One From Nick
Also Nice Little Grumble From It Under Acceleration To And The Forge Dv Dumping Sound Seems More Pronounced To Would Definately Say This Is A Worthwhile Mod To Do As You Can See From The Pics The Difference In Size Of The Stock 1.8T Pipe/Intake Opening Compared To The Dsg One
ALL THE PARTS :
STANDARD & DSG PIPES AND AIR DUCT COMPARED :
ALL PARTS REMOVED READY TO INSTALL :
LOWER AIRBOX,INTAKE PIPE & DUCT ASSEMBLED/FITTED :
DSG PIPE OPENING :
MUCH BIGGER INTAKE PIPE :
ALL FITTED AND HOW IT ALL LOOKS NOW :
Well Thats All Until I Get My Pipercross Panel Filter So Will Update Then.
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Updated 04/10/09 :
Yesterday Drove Down To R-Tech To Get The Golf Serviced As Its Due As Nick & Chris Were At Jkm For The R/R Day Ben Carried Out The Work So Had Oil & Filter Changed With Quantum Fully Synthetic 5w/30 Grade Oil New Pollen Filter Also Decided To Get Rid Of The Iridium Plugs I Had Fitted And Change Them For Some 'Nology Silver' Plugs After Reading Up On Them And Having A word With Nick So If R-Tech Recommend Them Then Thats Good Enough For Me
Total Cost For The Service And Plugs
£107.00
And Much Better Service Than Vw To
Well Worth Driving Down To Them Book Stamped To Keep The Service History To Date Also Ben & Nick Gave Me One Of Their Nice New R-Tech Stickers For The Car
So Got This Put On This Morning And Fitted The Plugs
NICE NEW R-TECH LOGO :
THE 'NOLOGY' SILVER SPARK PLUGS :
Thats All For Now As Usual Further Updates To Be Added As And When.
Thanks For Looking/Reading :

Updated 11/10/09 :
Decided To Order A (Blue) Forge T.I.P The Other Day After Reading A Few Posts On Here And From What Forge Have To Say About Them Even Looking At An How-To Didn't Put Me Off
So Ordered One From Dpm And It Arrived On Friday Ready For Me To Get It Fitted Today
Well Managed To Get Mine Fitted In About 2 And Half Hours And Had To Re-Seal The Dsg Intake Pipe Into The Lower Airbox Also As Well as Having To Cut Another Section From the Top Engine Cover As With The Forge Tip The D/v Valve Sits More To The Left Slightly And Was Against The Cover Once I Had Cut A Piece Out And Touched In Some More Paint To The Newly Cut Section All Was Well And Fitted Okay
Having Taken The Car Out For A Drive Earlier I Can Say That There Is A Noticeable Gain In Performance Through The Gears Pulls Well And A Little More Responsive And The Turbo Spools Up Quicker Also And There Is A More Noticeable Induction Sound To So Imo Definately A Worthwhile Upgrade To The Standard Tip.
NICE NEW FORGE TIP :
STD TIP REMOVED :
COMPARISON O.E.M Tip & FORGE TIP :
RE-ASSEMBLY :
AND HOW THE ENGINE BAY NOW LOOKS :
Well Thats All For Now Any Further Updates Will Be Added
Thanks For Looking/Reading

Small Update 14/10/09 :
Nothing Major Change Wise Just To Say That I Removed My Faulty Rear Arb On Monday To Cut It In Half For Whiteline To See Once This Happened Dpm E-mailed Whiteline Who Promptly Sent Me Out A New Replacement
Well That Arrived Yesterday Lunchtime And I Got It Fitted To The Car Before Going To Work
This Morning I Removed The Top Engine Cover Again As Since Fitting The Forge Tip The D/V Has Managed To Rub On The Edge Again So Re-Cut Another Piece Out Of It To Leave Sufficient Clearance Now Re-Touched In The Edges with Some Reflex Silver Paint Re-Fitted And There Is A Decent Gap Now So Hopefully It Should Be Okay Now
Further Updates As And When.
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Small Update 22/10/09 :
Ordered My 'Audi TT' Short Shift From Trade Parts Specialists The Other Day As I Had Read The Comments By Some Of The Other Forum Members Who Have Fitted This So I Thought For The Cost Why Not
Well Got It All Fitted Tonight After Work And It Has To Be Possibly One Of The Easiest Modifications To Fit
Got The Old One Off Easily Enough A Quick Clean Up An Dropped The Audi One On Reset The Linkage Back To The Mark I Had Already Made And Checked I Had All Forward/Reverse Gears Which I Did So All Good Took It Down The Road To Try It Out And I Can Say I Definately Noticed A Difference Over The Standard One
Seems Alot More Precise Imo I May Fine Tune The Linkage Adjustment At Some Point But Its Certainly Okay for Now For The Cost Of Under
£25.00
This Has To Be One Of The Most Inexpensive Modifications To Fit If Its Good Enough For Audi Then Its Fine For Me
Total Time It Took Would Be Under Half An Hour Including Going Down The Road To Try It Out.
AUDI TT SHORT SHIFT :
JUST TO COMPARE STD AND AUDI TT ONE :
ALL FITTED
:
Next Job Is To Change The Coolant Fit A New Thermostat And Coolant Temperature Sender Hopefully At The Weekend.
Update To Follow After This.
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Update 25/10/09 :
Well Yesterday It Was The Golfgti.Co.Uk & Bri Skoda Interforum Meet Down At R-Tech Obviously I Attended To Get Mine On The Rollers To See If My Result Was Roughly The Same As The Last R-Tech R/R Day And Also Made Some Additions Since Then To The Engine And Cured A Boost Leak So Good A Time As Any To See If All Was Okay Well Turns Out All Was Fine It Ran Well And Is Fine And Achieved A Result Of
222.6 Bhp
&
243.1 Lb/Ft Torque
Of Which Im Happy With
Looking Forward To Adding A Front Mount Intercooler And Then Getting A Stage Two Map Done At R-Tech
ON THE ROLLERS :
GRAPH OF MY RESULT :
Hopefully Today Should Be Fitting A New Thermostat,Coolant Temperature Sensor,Dipstick Tube & Holder And Re-Filling With Some Fresh G12 Coolant All Ready For The Winter.
Update To Come.
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Update 25/10/09 :
Well This Was My Job For Today To Fit A New Thermostat,Coolant Temperature Sensor And Fill With Some New G12 ++ Coolant
Wasn't That Bad A Job To Do Just A Little Akward To Get At The Lower Thermostat Housing Bolt But I Got That Sorted And Wasn't To Bad Although I Did Manage To Snap The Guide Tube Of The Dipstick Off At The Point Where It Goes Into The Metal Guide
Good Job I Ordered A Replacement As Well So Managed To Remove The Broken Section In One Piece Which Was A Pain And Needlessly Added To The Job But The New One Fitted Fine And The Heat Output Is Defo Alot Better Now Also All Seems Okay So Just In Time For Winter
O.E.M PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT :
Future Updates To Come As And When At The Minute Thinking Of A Rear Spoiler So Hoping To Get Sorted On That One
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Small Update 28/10/09 :
Spoke To Nick On Saturday While At The R/R Day About My N75 Valve And The Fact It Might Be Playing Up Well Sunday Ran A Quick Vag-Com Scan And Got A 17963 Fault Code Well I Have Had This Come Up On Two Occasions Previously So I Checked All The Hoses That I Could And Having The Car On The Rollers Saturday Knew That It Wouldn't Be A Hose So The N75 Was The Most Likely Other Fault So Yesterday Rang The Trade Parts Specialists To Order One In For Me And As Luck Would Have It They Had One In Stock So Went Over To Pick It Up Earlier And Got Back And Got It Fitted So I'l See How It Goes Once I Use The Car Later Not Expecting A Significant Change
But Hopefully It Might Stop Showing A 17963 Code Well Only Time Will Tell If Not Then I'v Just Wasted £60.00
THE NEW N75 VALVE :
Further Updates To Come As And When.
Thanks For Looking/Reading.

Update 16/11/09 :
Added A Few Little Things To The Golf Over The Last Two Weeks Which Are :
Rear 'GTI' Style Roof Spoiler.
Small Oem Style Roof Aerial.
Two Red Us Spec '20th Anniversary' 'GTI' Front & Rear Badges.
Black Aluminium 'GTI' Etched Tax Disc Holder.
Well Recieved Most Of The Stuff Within A Few Days Of Each Other But Waited To Update My Thread As To When Everything Was Fitted Obviously The Roof Aerial Was Just A straight Forward Replacement As Was The Tax Disc Holder As I Was Fed Up With The Original Dealer One Although I Have Put Up With That For Nearly Two Years
The Aerial Was Replaced Due To The Fact That With My New Double Din Head Unit Fitted I Suffered From A Very Poor Radio Reception Long Range And As Much Even Locally So With It Now Changed The Reception Is A Definate Improvement The Whole Reception Is 100% Better
So No Need For A Signal Booster On The Rear Of The Head Unit So Result There
Decided That I Would Change The Rear And The Front 'GTI' Badges Again Looking Around At Some Mk4's I Found One That I Thought Would Look Good And They Were The Us Spec Red '20th Anniversary' 'GTI' Badges I Had A Look For Genuine O.e.m Ones And Couldn't Believe How Much They Were So Eventually I Ordered Some Non O.e.m Ones Which Tbh I'm Happy With O.e.m Would Have Been Good But Not For The Price I Did Modify The Front Backplate To Fit The Lettering As They Are Slightly Smaller Than O.e.m Just Required Cutting Flush With The Letter 'I' And One Of The Locating Clips Removing And Then Smoothing With Wet & Dry To Clean The Edge Up As I'm Fussy
The End Result Looks O.e.m Really So Can't Be Bad
I Also Decided To Get A Rear Roof Spoiler Fitted Also I Know One Or Two Say The Rear Looks Okay Without One But Tbh I Think Vw Should Have Fitted Them As Standard To The Gti As Imo The Rear Of The Car Does Seem Bare Just My Personal Preference So Which One Should I Fit
Well Again O.e.m Would Be The Best Way But Again I Couldn't Justify The Cost So A Non Genuine One Was Found And I Decided On The 'GTI' Style One Which I Ordered Up And Was Delivered Within A Few Days So Then Off To The Bodyshop I Use For Them To Prep And Paint It Initially I Was To Get It Fitted Last Tuesday But It Didnt Happen As Being Non Genuine
It Required A Fair Bit Of Prepping So Didnt Get Done For Me To Get It Fitted Until Last Thursday Night So At Last I Took The Car Down For Them To Fit It For Me Last Friday Morning Before I Went To Work Must Admit That The Fit Is Spot On On The Car And The Job They Have Done In Painting It Given The Initial State/Condition Of It Initially Is Really Very Good And How They Tidied It All Up Once Fitted To I'm Pleased I Got One Fitted Now And I Really Like How It Looks From The Rear Feels Finished Now
OLD & NEW AERIALS :
RED US SPEC '20TH ANNIVESARY 'GTI' BADES
& MODIFIED FRONT BADGE :
BLACK ALUMINIUM TAX DISC HOLDER
& FITTED :
RED US SPEC '20TH ANNIVERSARY' 'GTI' BADGES
FITTED FRONT & REAR :
REAR 'GTI' ROOF SPOILER & AERIAL :
And Also Last Week I Finally Got Round To Getting My Tyres Changed Round On The Car As When I Had My Alloys Powdercoated Somehow The Tyres Weren't Fitted Back To The Alloy They Came Off As A Result I Had A Worn Tyre At One Front Corner And One Rear Opposite Corner
So A Local Tyre Place Sorted That Out For Me And I Discovered I Had Only 2mm Of Tread On One Of Them So Looks Like A Replacement Pair Would Be Due Sooner Rather Than Later Especially With The Winter Months Being Here I Didn't Really Want To Take A chance So Decided That As I Was Going Down To My Parents On The Saturday Why Not Get Some Fitted While Down There So Rang A Place I Used To Use As I Trust Them To Sort Out Putting Me A Couple On On The Saturday Morning
Decided In The End Not To Get Another Pair Of The F1's So Now I'm Running :
FRONT :
Continental Sport Contact 2's
REAR :
Goodyear Eagle F1 Gsd3's
Whilst Having The Conti's Fitted They Checked The Tracking After Something I Should Really Of Had Done When I Got It Lowered But Well Anyway It Was A Fraction Out So Was Adjusted To Where It Should Be So Least I Know All should Be Okay Now All In It Cost
£176.00
And From What I Can Calculate I Got Nearly 12k From The Goodyears So Will See How The Conti's Match Up Had A Good 170 Miles Back Home To Try Out The New Tyres And The First Thing I Immediately Noticed Was How Much Less Road Noise They Create Opposed To The Goodyears And From Initial Impressions In Dry,Wet,Damp Road Conditions They Seem Pretty Grippy Tbh Front End Does Seem Alot Sharper/Responsive So Have To See How They Shape Up Long Term But All Good For Now
Well Thats My Update For Now I Think I Have Remembered Everything So As Usual Future Updates Will Be Added As I Still Have Some Things To Add To My Golf
Thanks For Looking/Reading.
