Updated 30/07/09 :
Well Unfortunately A Couple Of Weeks Ago An Astra Managed To Reverse Along The Front Of My Golf In The Work Car Park  Although I Wasn't Impressed At The Time Looks Like I Got Away Lightly Compared To The Astra  :lipsrsealed: (Good Old Vw Build Quality) So On My Way Home I Called Into A Local Bodyshop To Get A Quote For The Damage Initially On First Inspection They Told Me £200 But After Having A Closer Look I Was Convinced That Most Of The Marks Etc Above/Below The Number Plate Area Could Be Rubbed And Polished Out  Which After A Little Work Turned Out To Be The Case And Now The Only Real Damage Was To The Rub Strip Which I Was Then Quoted £60 To Paint So I Was Much Happier As Also It Would Mean That The Radius Where The Rub Strip Goes Round To The Wing Would Be Painted A Job I Was Going To Do Because The Previous Owner Had Tried To Touch In Marks Either Side With The Wrong Colour Silver  So I Initially Booked The Car In For The End Of July After A Couple Of Days I Hated Driving Around With It As It Was So At The Weekend I Called Into My Local Vw Breaker And As Luck Would Have It They Had A Reflex Silver Rub Strip In So I Brought It Although On Closer Inspection I Knew It Needed Painting As It Was Badly Scratched But For The Money It Was Definately Better Than A New One So I Spent Some Time Rubbing It Down And Prepping It Cleaned It All Up And Primered It Looked Much Better Then The Following Monday I Took It Into The Bodyshop For Them To Paint And Told Them I Would Collect It Friday.
THE DAMAGE TO The ASTRA :

DAMAGE TO MY GOLF :

HOW It LOOKED AFTER RUBBING/POLISHING :

Well Picked Up My Newly Painted Rub Strip On The Friday Morning And Was Well Happy With Their Work And Also The Fact They Only Charged Me £40 To  So Now I Needed Some New Surrounds I Was Hoping To Get The Forum Ones But They Were Out Of Stock Until August I Couldnt Wait That Long So I Thought I Would Try 'Dubmeister' So Ordered Up A set Of 'Wolfsburg' Ones At Dinnertime And Saturday At 9.00Am They Duly Arrived (Excellent Service As Promised) So Over To The Stealers For Some New Number Plates And I Can Get It All Fitted And The Car Looking As New Again
COST :
Rub Strip = £10
Number Plate Surrounds = £33
Number Plates = £29
Rub Strip Painting = £40
TOTAL COST FOR THIS MIS-HAP £112.00
Now I'm More Careful Driving Around Car Parks  :lipsrsealed:

NEW NUMBER PLATES AND SURROUNDS :

I'm Happy With The Surrounds And How It All Looks Now Much Better

Further Updates As And When Will Be Added.

Updated 15/08/09 :

Decided That I Would Start Searching For A Set Of Cloth 'Recaro's' While I Had A Few Days Of My Holiday Left I Wasn't Really That Bothered If They Were Non Heated Tbh Just As Long As I Could Find Some  Anyway I Can Always Retrofit The Heating Elements At Some Other Time If I Decide To Do So Well Searched On E-Bay And As Luck Would Have It I Found A Set From Somebody Breaking A GTi In Doncaster And He Was Asking For £180 I Wasn't Going To Refuse That! So Phone Call Later And They Were Mine  So Travelled Down The Other Day To Go And Collect Them Obviously I Didn't Expect Them To Be 100%  Once There I Had A Look Over Them And They Were Just Generally Dirty And Imo A Bit Of Hard Work Cleaning Them Up Would Soon Bring Them Up To A Decent Standard To Fit Into My Car The Only Fault I could Really Find Was Just The Normal Wear To The Drivers Side R/h Seat Cushion Bolster So At Some Point I Will Be Looking To Get The Kit From Vw And Replace The Foam Etc Anyway I Spent Just Over 3 Hours Giving Them A Good Hoovering And Cleaning Them Up To Get All The Dirt Out Etc And Once Finished I Was Really Pleased With The Overall Result Of How They Have Come Up Compared To When I First Saw Them  Managed To Get Them Fitted Yesterday With Help From My Good Mate Jonny(turbo) Cheers Mate :afro: I'm Really Pleased Now That They Are Fitted And Its Transformed The Interior They Are Much More Comfortable Than The Sports Style Seats.
PICS AFTER A GOOD CLEAN-UP :

AND FITTED  :

Much Better
Only Problem Was My Airbag Connector Was Different From The One On The Sports Seats So Took The One Off The Old Seats And Cut The Airbag Connector Off The Recaro's Re-Fitted The Connectors From The Sports Seats To The Recaro's Keeping It As Oem As Possible Trial Fitted The Passenger Seat And Connected The Airbag Plugs And Ignition On It Threw The Airbag Light Up On The Dash And Airbag Fault On The Mfa  Checked With Vag-Com And Me And Jonny Traced The Fault To A Loose Black Wire On One Off The Connectors I Had Made Up  Rectified That And Re-Connected All Back Up No Warning Lights This Time  Once Both Front Seats Were Fitted And Connected Up Re-Checked With Vag-Com And No Faults Or Warning Lights :afro: Job Done And Happy!!

Further Updates To Be Added As And When.

Updated 06/09/09 :

Scanned My Car Last Weekend And Got A Couple Of Fault Codes (17705,17963) Had A Read Through A Link Rhys Posted Awhile Back To The 17705 Code And Rang R-Tech And Got Some Useful Information/Help From Topher Cheers Mate  So Wednesday Called In At My Local Dealer And Ordered Some Parts:

1 x 1J0145834A Hose @ £7.03
1 x 028129748 Gasket @ £1.81
1 x N10518901Clip @ £4.57
2 x N0245033 Clip @ £4.91 Each

So Yesterday The Job Involved Removing And Cleaning The Side Mount Intercooler And The Throttle Body Started The Job And When I Got Down To Removing The Pancake Pipe I Came Across My Problem!!! There Was Oily Residue On The Upper Hose To The Turbo And The Clip that Clamps The Hose To The p/c Pipe Was Loose!! (Well Could Turn With My Hand) The Second Cause Was The Hose To The Lower Smic Connector One Of The Jubilee Clips Was Loose To And Not Fitted Correctly In The Sealing Area!! I Tried One Of The Jubilee Clips To Loosen And It Just Snapped  Set About Cleaning The Smic And Managed To Empty A Full Tin Of Carb Cleaner  I Was Suprised How Oily The Smic Was As Well As The P/c Pipe And Upper Intake Hose!! Once All Cleaned And All Dried Out Set On Withe Removing The T/b And Gave That A Good Clean It Was A Little Dirty To I Was Abit Suprised As It Was Cleaned Out Approx 10,000 Miles Ago New Gasket Fitted And Re-Assembled And T/b Re-Adapted All Good Rest Of The Work Was Straight Forward And Took The Car Out Last Night To Give It A Little Run  Well The Idle Seems Alot Smoother Now At Least And The Car Seems To Pull Harder To Holds Peak Boost Well To (Hardly Suprising As I Must Of Been Pissing Boost!!) Imo Was Well Worth Doing The Job And At Least I Found The Cause Of My Problem(Hopefully Anyway) Had It On Vag-Com To Last Night And No Fault Codes So All Good :afro:
NEW PARTS :

OLD CLIPS & HOSE :

AND REMOVED FROM THE SMIC :

ALL NICE & CLEAN :

FINALLY FITTED & SECURE!! :

Update 20/09/09 :

Decided That I'm Removing My Neuspeed P-Flo Induction Kit T Go Back To The Oem Set Up With A Pipercross Panel Filter Drilled & Smoothed Lower Airbox And The DSG Intake Upgrade
So Gave Trade Parts Specialists A Call On Thursday And Ordered
1 x 1J0 805 962 GB41 Air Duct @ £3.07
1 x 1J0 129 609G Pipe @ £24.70
1 x 1J0 805 965 EB41 Adjuster @ £1.97
They Were Delivered Yesterday First Thing So Over I Went To Pick Them Up  But Looking Through The Parts I Found That The Air Duct Was Wrong  Had Recieved A Std 1.8T One So They said They Would Re-Order The Correct One For Tuesday I Decided I May as Well Take The Correct Parts With Me To At least Be Able to Do Something This Weekend So The Fitting Will Have To Wait For Now...... So Set About Smoothing/Drilling The Lower Airbox And Decided To Paint The Upper Cover In Black Started With This And Before Clearcoating I Wasn't Happy With How It Looked And I Had Used All My Paint I Couldn't Be Bothered To Go Back Over To Halfrauds To Get Some More Paint So Managed To Find Some I Used Awhile Back And It Was Aluminium Colour So The Choice Was Made Then  Got It Painted And It Looks Good Now So I'm Happy With How Its Turned Out Just Needs All Fitting Now.

SMOOTHED/DRILLED LOWER AIRBOX AND DSG INTAKE PIPE :

DSG Intake Pipe Much Bigger Than Std One

PAINTED UPPER AIRBOX COVER :

Will Be Updating After I Fit The Dsg Intake
