yes you can, I'd leave the ABF alternator & pas pump on if you can, its much better than the old 16v stuff. new clutch + your old flywheel and away you go.  Oh and you need a kr front coolant flange, the abf one bends the wrong way

the abf multivee flat belt system is far superior to normal vee belts, i woudl retain.

but imo  buy an ecu and loom and use all the abf ness
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

kr waterpump will fit an abf and work wioth the abf belt setup, alternator obv you need to swap back to mk2.  but trust me n dan, if the abf comes with the alternator stuff use it!  Can make your moneys back on the alternator easily ;)

i would agree with dan about running it on abf stuff, but its not a quick n easy job.  No harm in chucking the abf in and getting car on the road in the short term then think about abf managment later on!
If you decide to stick with kjet, prep the abf with new gaskets n stuff before you start the conversion and it can be done in a day on your own :)

got the engine last night at last  both stripped at the minute do i need to use the oil cooler off the kr as the abf one has 3 sensors or does that not matter iv noticed the abf has a bracket flywheel side at the bottom does this need to come off as im using the 1.8 rod change box so far all the waterpump and brackets are on the abf off the kr plus a new belt+ tensioner and covers can i use the cam cover off the kr as iv had this painted? i ask because the old cover has not got two bolt holes in the middle

leave the oil housing alone, you'll note there is a small sensor with a white colar, this needs removing and fitting to the hole in the back of the head (oil temp sensor for MFA) in the spot on the back of the head there is a blanking plug, swap that into the hole on the oil cooler :)
The extra hole is very handy, it allows you to fit VDO gauges without the need for removing any of the oem sensors, or using a T piece :)

The bracket is for the O2a box to screw into, I left it on as it covers the hole on the back of the gearbox bellhousing. You could take it off and fit the MK2 tin plate if you prefer.

You cant use the KR rocker cover as the gasket face is different :(

the ABF cover has 2 nuts where the KR bolt holes are, these are covered by the 2 plastic bungs. pop these out and the nuts are accessible.
