dashboard lights gone awol
« on: 25 February 2009, 23:44 »
hi guys,

Sorry in a rush, only got half an hour on saturday to fix this.  I'm sure the info can be found relatively quickly but if one of you can give me a quick heads up reply I'd appreciate it.

Car J reg '92 8v digifant run out Mk2

Basically both dashboard lights and light behind vents controls have gradually all gone out. Last one went tonight and can't see the clocks. Need to get fixed pronto.

so...

Is there just 3 bulbs, anyone got the spec of them?

Easy fix? Best way if fiddly?

Any thing else to help?

Sorry not being lazy, just want to jump on hear Saturday morning, get the info quickly, ram raid Halfords for the bulbs and get it fixed in 2 minutes!

I appreciate the help.

..... actually while I'm at it -  fog light switch - mine illuminates when rear lights are on but not front, is this standard?????

thanks again.

mark

Also check the dash light dimmer mechanism (behind the light switch) as this is weak and prone to malfunction.

I have always found that hitting the top of the dash with a sharp whack - a la Fonz seems to work.  Usually goes for about 6 months without needing another whack

Ok thanks guys but didn't have much luck.

Bulbs not stocked by dealer any more, number plate light ok, dash light dimmer dial ok.

So much for a 30 minute fix.I think it's going to be a long old bastard slog pulling the dash to bits and trial and error on what works, and then re assembling many times to use for work again before I can try the next fix :(

not happy

Stick at it....its satisfying in the end....if bulbs on mine stop working the first thing i check now is the wiring cos 9 times out of 10 a bit of playing about and wiggling of the wires gets it going again
