My car is lowered 60-70mm on them. Just wondered what your opinions are of them?

Had them on my old mk2, box said lowered 60mm but reckon it was lower than that!
 I liked terrifying folk by going round roundabouts @65 :grin:
Good for the cash I'd say, but thinking I'm going to give these hot tuning coilies a punt, can't argue for 170.00 delivered

Don't waste your money on the hottunning's - the ride is crap and over time, it will rattle so much trim loose that the cost of adhesive to stick it back in place will negate the price of the coilies.

Seriously, they are harsh - I would advise strongly against.

Hmmn, interesting Ben, I had been all set to get a set of fixed rate springs and dampers as who adjusts coilovers in the real world, but others had suggested those cheap coilovers. Are they really that bad?

You're going to get seriously mixed opinions on them - so mine is just as good as the next.

I've run them for the past 2 years and they are *very* firm. The average pothole or bump in the road which is unnoticable on a normal car - feels like driving over a speed bump on budget coilies.

The damping and rebound rate is far from ideal,  I find myself bouncing in the seat driving down the m'way - not fun for the 250 mile Manchester > Glasgow drive.

Having said that, over my 20 yr old spring/damper combination, it corners much tighter - but the ride comfort has been comprimised substantially.

I think the going rate is £170ish for them, I know I'd rather save the extra money and get a decent spring/shock combo.

You'll find everyone is right about not adjusting the coilys more than once. I set mine on my original wheels, then when I changed my alloys, I set them up again - that was about 18 months ago. Remember - each time you adjust them, you need to get your tracking set up again, so about £25+ per shot.

i got g-max springs on my golf got them out the bargain bucket at halfrods they cost me a grand total of £19.99. and they seem ok to me.

I had  gmax shocks / springs on a mk5 fiesta (-60mm - one if not the lowest they did). Never again! The ride was so hard, i would wince everytime i saw a bump in the road - felt like i had concrete bricks instead of springs.
I never drove it on a track so i cant comment for handling, and I wasnt stupid enough to thrash it round corners in my residential area.

May i first direct you to http://www.gmaxsuspension.co.uk/p1250466.htm, it does stipulate that that spring kit will lower 80mm.

That you lowered your car and expected it to ride like it did when it was on factory suspension?

When I say i used to drive round roundabouts @ 65 this was on the 70 limit dual carriageway that runs through my city, perhaps not the most grown up thing to do but not technically breaking the law and definitely not a residential area.
