this is a graphical representation of the 16v and vr6 racing round a corner, the 16v is the one on the left in the distance, vr6 is the one in the foreground. (weights are accurate) 8v mk2 just out of shot behind  :-[

 ;D ;D ;D  ;)  :P  :-*

Tinman What do you mean they would be like crates going round a corner? I own a MK2 16v and it handles that well that I smoked an Mr2 last week which is mid-engined rear wheel drive.

Well I think you lot are over doing a bit on the VR6 Golf.  I am commuting to work at the moment in my 90 16 valver and the amount of cars my dub is capable of embarassing never ceases to amaze.  If you come out of a roundabout onto dual carriageway 2nd and 3rd most cars struggle to catch up including, just recently, a K reg VR6.

There's only a few BHP/Ton difference!!!!

Now, my last car was a Corrado VR6 and that was bloody fast!!!!!!

I would never buy a GOLF MK3 VR6.... whats the point?

Oh and I do love golfs (this is my 8th)

No offence Dan

Not really at all mate.
For a start the vr6 you raced was probably sh!t.
There is very little difference between a corrado and golf vr6, in reality most golf vr6 rolling road at around 190bhp, the reason i bought the golf is i have a family.
If you actually drove a decent golf vr6, you would see that a mk2 16v wouldn't stand a chance!
And yes i have owned a few valvers, they corner much better (only if both cars are stock suspension), in a straight line there is no comparison.

ive driven both

the torque throughout the rev range in a vr6 is ubeliavable,

espechially low down,

the 16v is pretty flat up untill 3k revs

after that tho it flies,
if both cars were rolling in a race the vr6 would still eat it.

p.s i own a mk2 16v which is mint,
not biased towards vr6's at all ;)
