Car at an oil change at 9k miles this week. But forgot to ask about getting the air filter done at the same time.

How much are the air filters? Might go down this weekend and buy a new one. Car feels 'stuffy' and less powerful.

Also, any other filters I should change?

Car was on LL but they've now changed it to T+D. Anything else I should have done at the first service?

Order a green cotton filter from jkm stealth. Paper element which aids the intake over standard air filter. £34 from memory.

Have been thinking about what T_T said, and it's put me off buying a carbonio + ITG Filter. Buying a new filter every so often seems to make better sense.

....Following those posts, I had a long chat with the ITG guys including one of their designers. It's late and I can't find my notes right now but it went something along the lines of the ITG being a depth-medium as opposed to a surface-medium (hope I got that the correct way around!) and foam rather than paper. It comes lightly oiled but doesn't need re-oiling for about 60k miles or alternatively can be replaced. The oiliness combined with depth foam results in more particle retention. Maintenance can be simple vacuuming or rolling up any surface crustiness.

Incidentally, they think that the stock airbox is very restrictive and badly positioned from a heat pov.

Although it's what I've got, I don't think that a Carbonio plus ITG is the best solution available but I think it's probably better than stock. Some may disagree but most of the tuners appear to think it's better.

....To be frank, I find T_T's opinions not 100% reliable - Some are and some aren't. His theory and logic is usually spot-on but doesn't always apply - In My Opinion. But please don't misunderstand me - T_T contributes a lot of good advice and help and always in his truest (and passionate and angry) belief, but....We each have to make up our own minds.

Regarding the ITG filter, the jury is still out as far as I'm concerned, but how come myself and others with ITG filters haven't had any MAF failings? I'll be changing my ITG filter at 60k miles anyway because cleaning it properly is a bit of a hassle. £50 for 60k miles of more efficient air filtration isn't expensive imo.

To anyone who prefers to keep an oem paper filter, I'd say throw it away and replace it at every single service (either 10k or 20k miles).

This is what I was originally going to do when I posted this thread - new filter every 5k, and given the car's just had an oil change at 9k, I figured a new oem filter would be nice as well.

As stated elsewhere, if I could get a nice CAI and fit it myself, without having to take the engine cover off permanently, I'd go for it. Unfortunately all the decent ones have pipes that a baby could crawl through, which means no engine cover!
