Alloy repair before refurb?
« on: 19 February 2009, 00:40 »
So I want to get my alloys refurbished around April time, found a guy that'll do it £55 per wheel. However on one or two locations of 2 wheels, there s literally a chunk missing from the alloy. Now is it possible to get this filled back in somehow before the refurb goes ahead?

Yes, you can get it built up with weld and then machine the rim back.

Surely a decent refurb should include sorting out any scrapes and missing material, especially for £55 a wheel?

I was thinking that...a decent refurb should include any small defects like these!!

Any decent engineering shop should be able to help, you will need the tyre / s removed first.

I thought I might, when I do decide to get this done then, I'll have to get a set of steelies or something to tide me over. Cheers chap.
