A good body shop will smooth, prime and paint ..... My front spoiler was done that way it is mint. Ask around, you will find a good recommended and local paint shop to do it.... If your in Glasgow or nearby pm me I will provide details of local experts.

Let the fun begin........Red Gti, full colour coding, DSG, Xenons, Winter pack, Lux pack, Highline, Sat Nav, Sunroof, Leather, Milltek, ABT rear valance, Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics....pescaras :-)

Yeh I would definately get this done if i had a candy white one, but in balck im not sure i can part with ~£500 for something that may not really make that much difference. Anyone had it done to a black gti?

I had my front valance and skirts flattened and painted and the finish was and still is absolutely perfect.  It takes alot of work so a lot of bodyshops dont do it because the main cost is labour rates which most people dont understand and think they are being ripped off.  I got a recommendation to a fantastic body shop and including painting and blending my rear ed30 valance, it cost all done £460 iirc.  I could have got it done cheaper but im a bit OCD so wanted it perfect

Don't have any close ups but a couple of pics which give an idea.  In the metal it makes a huge difference to how the car looks!

You can make out the skirt here

and here

and another

LOL sorry for all the pics but hopefully it gives you all an idea of how well it can be done if you find the right place

When I got mine the skirts were already painted, they were ok but peeled a little - bought some ready primed R32 skirts for £70ish quid, £200 for painting and they are great.  The origianl bumper was done on the car from what I can tell and looks absolutely fine.

Aha! I have just spotted this topic!

What everyone has said about my car is correct.

I use a bodyshop in Maidenhead, Berkshire who use a technique called wet-priming. They are the VW Maidenhead approved bodyshop.

My skirts would simply not come off, the adhesive was on too strongly, and the bodyshop was afraid that they may cause other damage to the car through trying to rip them off! So we kept them on - but at the premise that flaking may occur around the edges...which unfortunately it has done. But celavie! That is no reflection on the skills of the bodyshop - who on the other bumpers did an excellent job. Colour match was spot on, and there is no hint of the original texturized surface at all.

From memory...rear was 300, front & sides done at once cost 250. Didn't think it was too bad.

Thanks for the replies. I had had some work done on my car by Ruden over at Tuning Werks in Croydon so I shall speak to him and see what his recommendations are.

Just got to make a descion on what I do first. I want to get a Carbino intake and get my alloys refurnished and painted which I might do first. Hummmmmmmz.

Colour code.

Anyway I'll try and get someone I knows number in Wrotham, he's very good and most of the guys from the PVW magazine use him. MSL I think they're called.

alan, we seriously need to get some decent wax on your car ;)
