Mk1 Golf S - Info Needed

got this badge as i thought it'll be unusal i cant find any info about the car at all, anyone heard of this model, i do know its non uk, sa and us these had gti, rabbit..

as you can see from the badghe its also got automatic on it, another rarity maybe (glad mines auto now lol)

also a pic of the car it came from as you can tell its very flat so couldnt get to see inside or under the bonnet for any clues...

Thought this was the MK1 16v at first.

what engine has it got ( if still there )

car was flat and had lots of steel all over it so couldnt get to see the engine or interior...

the 'S' designation meant it was a larger engine capacity in this case it is a mk1 golf 1974-76 year, basic trim level most propably a Golf N  with a 1500cc engine fitted, the only other designation of a single 'S' was for the French market when the tuning firm Oettinger built  16v engines for  MK1's and was sold through official vw dealers all cars being L/H drive but i beleive that was the late seventies maybe early eighties.  hope this is of help....Wyn
