Highline Computer
« on: 17 February 2009, 23:38 »
I am looking to replace my normal Stereo in my MK5 Golf GTI with a Sat Nav unit in the near future.

Trouble i am finding , not only do i not have a MFSW fitted , the computer on the dashboard is the small one, so when i have the SAT Nav fitted not all the information will appear.

On another forum i saw someone had replaced their computer,  not sure how easy this is to do or if it can be done, does the computer come as part of the dashboard or is it a seperate unit ?

Any advice would be greatful.

Highline can be retrofitted
MFSW can be retrofitted
Hell, even Xenons can be retrofitted. Problem is ££££££££££££££££££££

The highline comes as part of the dash, so you'd have to replace the entire dash display with one that has highline fitted. It's possible, just costly.

if the dash was replaced , is there a seperate part number for the two different dashboards .

Or do you think if ordered from VW they would only stock the one type of dashboard now, as i believe from 2008 onwards was the highline computer standard ?

i had to pay £50 for highline on my 2008 GTi. If it was made standard then I want my money back!

Hi Luke ive just fitted an highline dash cluster to my gt tdi it is complex but if you have the right software to do the job then its straight forward really.

Have a look on ebay for a highline gti cluster, it has to come from a 2005 or 2006 before march build.

morty, do you just need VagCom in terms of software? Do you have a guide anywhere or did you get someone to do it?

I am looking to do this on my R32. Especially now I have sat nav and the Fiscon Bluetooth it allows me to read sms messages on the Highline if I had it, also view phonebook, Navi directions etc.
R32 : DBP : Lux Pack : Winter Pack : Cruise : Leather : Parking Sensors : Rear Tints : Armrest : RNS 510 : Ipod MediaIn : FreeView Tuner : VagCom

yep I have vag-com and the vag commander which is the important bit cos that is the software to change mileage and read the pin code on the cluster.
