MK2 ALARM OPTIONS? (manual window winders)
« on: 17 February 2009, 22:55 »
Buying a mk2 8v gti which only has central locking, what would you recommend?

would love to have a remote start (with closing windows), but ideally just remote central locking would do,

saw a mk2 parked near me that just had led's in place of the door pins, guessing that it was obviously a remote lock affair

any advice appreciated

budget of about £300? max

£300 is a tidy budget & for that you should get a good alarm.I would speak to you'r local alarm specialist & see what they can do with you'r budget. .

Go for a cobra, decent piece of kit,

Full closure facility (Not needed as windy windows)
Interior sensors
Boot and bonnet sensors
2 points of immobilisation
2 fobs
Tells you if a certain area has been tampered with by number of beeps
Key code single button entry if fobs are both lost instead of a slip key

Additional levelling sensor package available

You will get this at a good price

ive just fitted a laserline cat1 to my golf first time doing one, got at trade from a friend and seeing as im in the trade it wasn`t a problem fitting just as good as the cobra alarms and a lot less hassle than clifford (sorry but im not a fan of clifford i used to fit those aswell) what ever alarm you going for it will need a locking motor unless its had an alarm on b4 and they left one in there for you like they did on mine
