dampers

My P plate MKIII is getting a bit wobbly after 90,000 on its standard shocks, can anyone recommend a good replacement unit. I wouldnt mind a slightly stiffer shock, but I'm not really interested in slammed to the ground rock hard kits. I've had them before and the speed bumps where i live were a nightmare. Anyone tried the bilstein sport shocks?

Hiya,

I have had Billys on a Vectra,  :-[, and they were OK.  To be honest, give the Boge Turbogas a go, they are non adjustable but pretty cheap and are uprated over std.  When Autocar and Motor tested the 8v Mk3 against an RS 2000 Mk4 escort in the early 90's the Golf left the escort for dead on "real" roads (std UK twisty and potholed) but they did say that it was underdamped as std.

I have had the full Koni kit on my 1st Mk3 and it lasted about 1 week, just too hard.  I took the springs off and went back to std.
