Edition 30 detailing
« on: 16 February 2009, 18:16 »
I have been lucky to do a few Edition 30 Golfs, this one was my 1st last April when she was brand new. At the time there was some mild marring which I corrected, and today I got my hands on it again for a full external Dodo Protection detail.

Wheels were cleaned as usual with Espuma Revolution, Envy brushes and the EZ detail brush. Foamed with Espuma Activo and left to dwell as the car was FILTHY!

Rinsed then time for the Envy SSF

Washed with TBM, Z sponge grit guards etc. Rinsed and dried, already looking so much better that the owners commented "have you waxed it already"!

Clayed with Dodo Gentle grey

There were a number of car park scrapes/minor scratches and these were corrected with FCP and Ultrafine on the metabo.
Paint was cleansed with PC, Lime Prime and a Megs polishing pad. This did give a small amount of "correction" which certainly benefitted the paintwork.

The car was waxed with Dodo Juice Blue Velvet, left for an hour or so whilst I dressed the tyres, buffed the tail pipes, glass etc.

Here are the afters:

Onto the 2nd car now but not a Golf so wont post it here!

A long day but made much better by repeat business and nice hosts!

The car looks

I detailed my car at the weekend and the shine of the finish just made the car look dropdead gorgeous.

Just out of curiosity have you found any difference between DJ Blue Velvet and DJ Purple Haze on a black GTI?

Am interested in buying a 'promo' pack which has both in it.

Thankyou very much!
Dodo is such an underrated brand for the money but they are on the up and the range has come a long long way from the 2-3 yrs ago when I 1st had the samples of what was to become Rain Forest rub and Banana Armour!
Wax choice is tricky without knowing your pocket depth !
If you want cheap and dont mind topping up every 6-8 weeks or so I'd advise Rainforest Rub (soft wax) or Hard candy (hard wax) as the generic entry level waxes at £29 odd each.
If you are a bit flusher  then go for the Supernatural plastic pot at £60 odd and the difference is the wetness and longevity of the end result. Typically 3-4 months before you'll need to top up.
If you want supernatural but are not sure on the cost there are panel pots at £15 and in my experience there is enough wax to do a Golf sized car 4-5 times easily. I have all these things myself both to sell but also use them. If I didnt have faith in the products I wouldnt use them tbh.
Please dont forget though the end results reflect the amount of prep you do. Wash and slap a coat of wax on and it wont look as good as a car thats had the wash, clay, cleanse regime before you wax it.
Best wishes
Tim

Got any pics of the beauty?
Wax wise, NO is the short answer!
I have both the BV and the PH waxes and it only (like many things!) comes down to hardness. Do you prefer soft or hard waxes?
To me the waxes in terms of hardness there is not much between them and you'd be as well off with either.
Best wishes

I thankyou!
Cost...well there's the thing :smug: Nowhere near as bad as you are thinking as I have a thing for Golfs so have a favorable price for them as like doing them! Had 2 MK2's, a Mk4 TDi and detailed a nice lot of ED30's and R32's and they all make me smile.
Without wanting to seem all "pluggy" I charge £130 for external (like this job above) or £165 for a full inisde and out detail.
