Even if it didn't make any difference, the engine was recommended to run high octane fuel.
Also it reduces chances of pinking, prolonging engine life and makes the engine run smoother

All for an extra £3-4 quid?

Not bullsh!t at all. High compression engines need a high octane fuel to prevent damage. If only part of the mixture burned whilst the other part sponteously combusted, (exploded) you would not be reaping the benefits of the total amount of heat enery available for the given weight of fuel. Thus your fuel consumption would increase and your engine will wear quicker.
But I keep explaining all this. It's now like flogging a dead horse!!

It even states in the filler cap to use Premium!
Thats what I use, I do see a big drop in performance with 95ron, so it's 98/99 all the way now.

And yeah, High compression engines NEED high octane fuel, my best mate owns a Integra Type R and would rather let it run dry than put 95 in it lol

go away and gain an understanding of how enignes really work and what goes on in them.

most of the time enignes will tolerate lower octane than they are meant to run on, tho you try driveing hard on a hot day in the middel of summer.  pop

i dont care

i thrash the living poo out of my car most days  and the last thing i want to worry about is the engine running lean and melting a piston due to sh1t fuel

BUT if Mr xcore wants to believe there is no differance !!!!! ok mate no bother , when your car has problems come ask us what we think

If you don't think it makes a difference, go and find a Honda step-thru and try different fuel in that. If i filled up at Asda it was painfully slow and didn't get me as far, if i filled up at BP with their super unleaded however you could instantly feel the difference.

but the rain and sh1t at the moment would kill it (and me)

been driveing the old caddy today.

that is free motoring.   runs on red diesel  and it's allowed to can only go 3 or 5 mile radius on road tho
