Fueling your mk2

Has anyone got the same problem with Tesco's fuel as me? I have always filled the tank with good old Shell premium unleaded but when ever im being cheap and use the Tesco's stuff the mk2 always runs like its holding back. Now I know the premium Tesco's fuel aint that good but even with the Super Unleaded 99 octane petrol my golf runs like a bag of poop.

they try and pink on 95 octane,   knock sensor picks it up and ecu pulls teh ignition back.   result  less gee gees

i ONLY use super unleaded from BP

i get better fuel economy and feels like i have more power but i have no proof

Yes deffo the tesco stuff gives me less mpg, super unleaded ftw!

its all mine ever ran on i cant go back to the cheap stuff i feel the difference responce aint as good

I only use shell optimax in my G60 ... I once put a tenner of tesco 99ron in it and it nearly died on me on the motorway, was kangarooing most of the way to the nearest shell garage where I filled up and problem solved :) Bit strange really, but supermarket fuel is sh!tte!

Optimax every time. Remember when it was £1.30 a litre not so long ago. Seems bonkers really, good job it's come down some.
