Winter fuel consumption

It seem slike a trip to JKM in Portsmouth to test my car may be in order???

I drive a 2007 ed30 dsg,.....

Anyways, forgive me for sounding thick, however am I right in thinking my fuel consumption should be worse in winter than in summer by 2-3mpg???

I only say because since we've had the colder weather, that's how much my car mpg has reduced,....

Anyone else had the same results?

Does this mean somethings wrong or is this the norm??

Funnily enough i was wondering about that today.  I used to get 30mpg on my commute but the best I've seen is 27 recently.  It is a short commute and only long enough for the engine to reach temperature.

It is really weird as my driving style has changed much at all, the type of journeys I do are the same and the mileage I do is the same,.....hopefully someones got a good reason for it???

its colder so your engine needs to work harder to warm up........

works harder = burn more fuel

fairly simple!

its when your MPG drops by 10mpg + then you should start to worry!

Yep,..appreciate that, however after an hours worth of driving it should return to some sort of normal levels???

On a run for about an hour, I used to get 31mpg on mixed driving, now I'm getting 27/8 mpg???

engine still has to work though

my TDI is exactly the same and i check it over every week with VAGCOM - no fault codes and it goes as well as ever 

i wouldn't read too much into it - get it scanned for faults if you're overly worried

Yes it does.same with having the air con running.
