just purchased MK5 GTI turbo
« on: 13 February 2009, 14:20 »
Hi everyone,

just purchased a MK5 yesterday from VW dealer and will be picking it up next week, i went back today to add a few more options (parking sensor etc) and I would just pay it off my card to not affect the finance, i also said i would like some xenons but unfortunately this can not be upgraded because the car isn't a brand new purchase.

I understand it needs washers and a levelling sensor but surely they could at least offer this upgrade right?

And there i was thinking i could just get some later where as now i know if it didn't come with the car then YOU CANNOT have them i was told, they didn't even offer it at any price

Still looking forward to picking up the beast but man was i disappointed... keeping it legal sometimes is so hard....

You don't need those expensive lights.
The standard ones are OK with some new bright Philips bulbs. Nice and cheap to fix when they pop too.
Currently digging a bunker.

Hope you enjoy it. I picked my new GTI up last Novemeber and i loooooove it!

Dont worry about the xenons - plenty of fellow GTI drivers have upgrade themselves and have posted all the details you need in the forum. Not that i have upgraded mine yet but i understand its quite a painless excersize

Im starting to look around for a silver ED30, 5 door, DSG, with a few options.
Did you get a standard GTI? If you dont mind, I'd be interested in knowing exactly what you got and how much it all set you back? Just trying to get my bearings on the prices for GTI's these days! ;)

hey guys,

sorry only just finished work, its a 2006 GTI 2 litre turbo which is 200bhp (quoted by the VW dealer, not actually tested yet), silver, 2 door, DSG and has just over 20 thousand miles on the clock. Please work with me here as im just gonna say everything it has as I dont know what comes standard and what were optional extras

It has:
auto rear view mirror dimming
heated seats
auto wiper rain sensor thingy
auto headlight when dark thing
dual climate control
A very very basic bog standard cd player

So thats it really i think they call this the "convenience pack" so i didn't get much with it.

Everything on her is completely standard with no engine work or cosmetics. The parking sensor was 350, yes 350 golden nuggets just for the rear. A remap sounds nice

I was looking at the revo remap and when looking online i found the nearest dealer to me was 2 blocks away, but that garage doesn't have a rolling road or anything so im a bit confused, is it just a simple plug and play unit that i myself must fit? or do they set it all up in the quoted ten minutes without the need of any heavy machinery?

thats one day gone by, 5 days left
