Diamondbrite polishing session booked

Hi,

Just so i can show you guys in a step buy step view, my car has been booked in for a Diamondbrite polish and treatment session.

i dont know if any of you guys have herd of this make but the stuff if truly amazing, it comes with a life time garentee and you never have to polish it again once done and comes with certificate.

basicly they put on a first layers of stuff and that cleans and protects the pannel from everythink from rain to road tar and such, then they put a second layer on the car which basicly gives you the showroom shine (looks stunning look it up on youtube) and once it is complete it is ready to drive, and when you get it dirty you use their wash and aftercare stuff and it is done no buffing no polishing no waxing and yet the finish is amazing.

while it is there im also getting the screen water repellent done on all windows and also getting all the seats and carpects (all the material) waterproffed) once again look on youtube when you spill stuff like ribeina it just sits on to you get some tissue and mop it up and there is no stain or mark.

you have to go back yearly i think it is to have the stuff check and toped up iff need be(rarely do they need topping up im told) and then you go away with a realy shiney car.

iv asked if i can stay and watch on this oe so i can do a review on this and after some talking they have said yes so i will take photos and stuff while im there and let you guys see the amazing finish.

the only problem with this stuff is you only get the garentee if you get a reconised dealer to do it, and it is not avalible to the public (im told).

Just be careful, depends on your circumstances etc but if you dont have much time to clean,wax etc probably a good choice.

NOt too sure of the price though?

You here stories of lasting 2/3 years etc, just as it says stories!

For a show shine you will not beat a carnuba wax or sealant.(More layers/effort in= better shine)

I know about the Autoglym equivalent (Lifeshine). The dealer will charge you about £200 or so for it on a new vehicle, although if you want to apply it yourself the kits cost about £10 on ebay. The sealant is basically a more toxic/concentrated version of their Extra Gloss Protection which is "alright". The glass sealant comes highly recommended though. The AG Lifeshine kit also comes with a fabric guard for the interior which is more or less like Scotchguard.

Having tried it on a test panel (a neighbour gave me a kit for free), here's my personal opinions...

 - It does NOT last as long as the manufacturer claims. I reckon two decent coats of Collinite would beat it. The guarantee only applies if you look after it in a very prescribed way.
 - The gloss achieved is very mediocre.
 - Its vastly overpriced.
 - I've read a lot of comments that its often poorly applied.


In summary, it would be good for a company car or something like that, or if you really hate washing your car and know you won't wax it yourself, but I wouldn't buy it myself.

they give lifetime guarantees knowing that the majority of people change their cars within 3 years, and most people dont notice it coming off - a strong TFR  wash (like they do at dealers/commercial washes) will strip it.......

I was offered Supagaurd when we bought a new Peugeot 5 years ago. They were asking about £300 to do it back then. A mate is a valleter at a local dealer as said he could get me a kit to do it myself trade. That cost about £25, and he gave me a hand to do it.

To be fair it kind of worked. It made the car easier to wash, but certainly did not retain a showroom shine for very long. I'm sure it would be ok for people who dont clean their cars very often, as they would not notice the difference, but if you like your cars to be properly clean, and good quality wax will do a much better job.

The dealers are making a fortune on these products. Many are still charging £2-300, or doing it instead of discounting the car telling the customer thats what it is worth. Have a look on ebay and you'll find Supaguard paint sealent for around £5.00. At that price it's worth doing it yourself every year.

dont forget it costs them to apply it - most charge £65+ per hour labour, and it probably takes a couple of hours to do. the packs actually cost the dealers about £70 with the aftercare pack, the ones on ebay are normally ones that the valeters forgot to use........

Sure, I appreciate that, but I still reckon these type of products are only any good for people who are not bothered about cleaning there cars that often.

The thing is, proper regular cleaning, polishing and waxing will keep on top of marks and scratches that no product will protect against.
