tyre dressing, which one?
« on: 11 February 2009, 22:14 »
i`m after a good all round tyre dressing, easy to apply lasts well and doesn`t make loads of crap stick to my alloys.
any suggestions?
what do you use?

I've tried quite a few and I'll be sticking with megs endurance tyre gel as it looks good (slightly too much gloss if I was being picky), lasts a long time, but mainly because its cheap-ish and a bottle lasts forever. Compared to autoglym tyre foam it must cost a fraction of the price per application, and doesn't result in "tyre browning".

Chemical guys new look gel is also recommended, although I haven't tried it myself.

I was using Turtle Wax spray which was good for about 20mins until you go for a drive, any dirt that got onto the wheel or alloys would spray over you alloys, then set in and dry. Not good, so will go for Conkers suggestion next.

Sonus Tire & Bumper Dressing applied with a tire applicator.

Tim @ Clean your car.co.uk sells it.

Anything Sonus is usually brilliant!

Ive also tried a few and have settled on Megs endurance tyre gel.

Slight gloss which isnt too much imo. Seems to last a while esp after applying 2 coats. I havent touched them for 2weeks and they have only just started to need another application.

I've used turtlewax tyre dressing (pour from a bottle stuff). Smells so gorgeous (like bubblegum) you just want to eat it instead! It's okay but it comes out like a sloppy handcream so it's difficult to apply properly using just a cloth (manage to get it on alloys) but then again I use far too much. Love the look.

Will be testing out Megs endurance gloss this weekend (if it stays dry).

Top tip if your a bit stingy like me... A small paintbrush (half inch wide or so) is great for applying tyre gel.
