FLASH COUNTER
« on: 11 February 2009, 15:04 »
Hi, I cannot find a definitive answer to this.

Using bluefin on a ED30, does it or does it not count?

Indeed is there even a flash counter on the ECU?

Superchips have said the bluefin is undetectable to dealers, so does bluefin reset it every time?

Thanks

There is most definitely a flash counter on the MED ecu's. It can be reset (read: hacked), but I've yet to see proof that the bluefin handset thingy does this. I was under the impression it took something a little more advanced than that.

I have an Edition 30 with Superchips Bluefin ....

They were very clear with me - it resets the flash counter to exactly what it was before you applied their map / flashed the ECU.

Their original remap did not do it but they have revised the software and it now does it.  This is why, when you reflash with the Bluefin device there is alot of turning the ignition on and off at the end of the process as it resets the counter and checks said has been done correctly.   This explanation was from Dave at Superchips when we were discussing this very issue.

Hope this assists and makes sense !
