runs poo when cold
« on: 30 June 2004, 15:22 »
my car has been running like poo when cold over the past two weeks. always ran fine and then started to idle at about 800 and almost die when you put your foot down. sombody mentioned it may have somthing to do with the vacum switch or somthing like that? I asume hes on about the thing on the left hand side of the engine.. the car is a 1.8 16v.

with the ignition switched on

check that the ISV buzzes, just put a finger and thumb round it - you should feel it vibrate

if it dont then check the temp sender for it, its on the side of the head

there is 3 spade senders there. dont touch the one with the blue wire as its for the ECU

but you can swap the green/red wire with the yellow/red wire

one controls the dash temp gauage, the other the ISV and cold start - they are interchangable

the arrow is pointing to the ISV - a blackpipe runs from it to the air inlet
