OK - no one else has answered this, so I will.
If you search on this forum, there are many threads discussing Bluefin, and the Superchips company which make them. There are a whole raft of reasons why you should NOT use them, and probably just two reasons in their favour.
The two reasons in their favour are:
- They are relatively cheap (compared to similar Stage1 remaps from other compaines)
- It can be applied at home, by the car owner, without the need to go to a dealer or garage
A list of the some of the many reasons why you shouldn't use Bluefin/Superchips:
- They have no VAG speciality (unlike say Revo, MTM, Oettinger), and whilst you may find that they have a Golf in one of their development bays, there may be a Kia Pride or a Lada Riva in the next bay
- They have been proven to lie on their own website, regarding being an 'official' and 'exclusive' tuner to the UK VW Racing series
- Their claimed power gains have been repeatedly optomistic, bit owners repeatedly reporting very little, if indeed no power gains at all !!!
- The useage of the Bluefin device to 'write' the Superchips map onto your ECU will alter a 'flash count' on the ECU. Repeated use of the Bluefin will compound this issue
- Superchips own warranty has more holes in it than a swiss cheese - it is basically worthless if you read it in great detail
- There some considerably better maps, from some truely dedicated VAG specialist tuners, who have a long track record of providing an exemplary product, and exemplary after support too
Furthermore, over on Audi-Sport.net - there has been repeated posts of the Bluefin providing a big fat zero increase on the Audi S3.
So basically, if you money is really tight, and you honestly can't afford say a Revo or any of the other remap compaines - then I would personally avoid Bluefin/Superchips like you would a woman with scabby privates!
