turbo chatter? or toosh? and remap's
« on: 02 February 2009, 16:05 »
hi guys just to make you clear im not a chav or rude boi! lol

i was just wondering will just adding a induction kit result in any turbo chatter? if so would it be a bad thing? or is a (dare i say it)dump valve going to be a good idea after? im going for a remap in a couple of weeks so will the extra boost need to be followed by anything else sharpeish which will prevent any damage to the car? im abit new in the vag tuning scene so any advice would be nice

cheers, mitch

Doubt an induction kit will affect the noise of the turbo. If you want it to sound like an ford RS turbo go for a dump valve, you will lose all respect when people hear it then see what car is doing it!

If you want some noise get an exhaust! Sounds much nicer than the car doing a silent fart!

Thats cool then. Induction will increase general noise, doubt you will hear the turbo being louder though!

remap = uprate the DV to the new 'G' spec or Forge alloy type. (G-spec around £40/ Forge £100)
if you want it to 'breathe' easier i would go for a Carbonio intake or even the EVOMS induction intake (about £300 i believe)

Nice to see another from Berkshire! Welcome to the forum!

What colour GTI have you got? I'll keep a look out for you! Obviously from my signature, you can't really miss me!

I've seen a lot of tuned GTI's in real life, and none make that chatter that you speak of. (I know exactly what you mean). I too would want it, if it was achievable!!!!

I've remapped and got a carbonio intake, but have no chatter. The turbo is pretty loud though on spool up, and when you let off the power.

Ok, so I don't have an open-cone filter which will obviously make more of an induction noise, but I've heard those that do, and they definitely don't make the noise.

If you want to hear my car to kind of see the kind of noises that it makes then just send me a PM and we'll sort somthing out - you live pretty close to me!
