mk2 rear small bumper removal
« on: 02 February 2009, 12:57 »
Ok this has probably been asked many a time but cant find anything in the search, trying to remove the small rear bumper in my mk2.

Does anyone have ne pictures which show were the bolts are that hold the rear bumper on, i no that the sides are on sliders but i dont have a trolley jack that goes above abt an inch atm the mo, so cant exactly see wat im doing! Im guessing its probably simple but im guessing it will as rusty as arseholes.

There's two bolts per side, 17mm ones. The two on the driver's side are easy, up into the chassis box section. Medium extension bar would do. The passenger side are a bit more awkward as the exhaust likes to get in your line of vision!!! Remember to copper slip the threads when putting bolts back in!

Sorry, no pics. Those 13's sound like the bumper bar to me! The bolts are kinda hidden within the chassis rail box section, reached thru two 2" holes mate.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

Question why you're removing them in first place.

Remove,

victory beer and bandages.

But yeah should become clear when you're under there, careful and not to get metal flakes in your eye lying on your back....

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.
