if you increase the air and fuel into an enigne it will produce more power. im not sure about the carb thing tho, if you did then you may have to get the carb etc set up. cant think why tho

i think the carbs will be the same, it might be the size of the jets which is different ???

The jets for the 1.6 and 1.8 are different.
Someone said you can use the 1.8 jets without problems, but the guy was trying to sell a 1.8 version on ebay so I dunno how reliable his word is :)

Basically budget for replacement jets just in case it don't run right.

I think that webber lists the carbs as the same for both engines.

Yea the carbs are identical, its just the fuel jets that differ.

You can run stage 2 jet even bigger, as long as you got a performance filter and exhaust.
Easy to do, take the top half of the carb off, the jets are in the bit above where the fuel sits (the floats), remove stage 2 jet, drill it out (only slightly), then put it back together.
The job can be done with the carb still on the car  :)

Drilling jets - you cowboy !! ( Yeeee ha  ;D )

Jetting is very precise. The main jet size is based on the revs your car is pulling at peak power plotted against the engine size if memory serves me right. The jet itself has many components that can be altered for different performance.

I'd say go for it and see what happens - the see if she's running rich or lean run look at the condition / glazing of the plugs.

Here's so info - it's not the same carb, but the princibles are the same and should help you out.

Thats the idea mate  :D
Don't mess with stage 1 jet, get severe driveability problems!
Stage 2 jet on the other hand, thats for when you open the throttle right out, its fine to have a slightly richer mixture at high rpm.
