Rear seat belts??
« on: 01 February 2009, 10:35 »
Just got a 1990 gti cab, the wife will need to use it but will need to put baby seat in. Has anybody had the 3 point system fitted, seen a place in london but i'm in West yorkshire. Any info would be much appreciated.

There's been a few threads about this in this section so try a search as I can't remember the full outcome but I think it's more hassle than it's worth to fit them a there's no real frame (so there's welding to be done) to put the top point of the seatbelt on the back of a cab. Can't the baby seat go in the front ? I used to put my son in the front of mine but that was from about four years old.
......now officially dubless.

Seat in the front seat, as long as it's ok to go in there as per manufacturers specs then it's just the same as any other car. If the front passenger seat has an airbag then you can't put those cradle baby seats in the front, so no need to worry about that it in a mk1.

it was offered as an option in america, but even there its very rare.  there was a set on ebay but the start price was a few hundred quid!
there was a thread a while ago with a link, I'll see if i can find it.  but the jist of it is there are 2 topers that need welding to the car, various bits of trim to cover them plus the actual belts.
