Votex Front Splitter, R32 sides and Edition 30 Rear
« on: 30 January 2009, 12:27 »
Hello - looks like I will be back in a GTI in teh next few days, although not the R32 or Edition 30 I originally hoped for (decided to scale my budget back a bit and keep the cash for a rainy day).  Anyway, should have a silver GTI (05) from tomorrow and one plan I have is to modify the exterior by:

  • Fitting a Votex front splitter and colour coding
  • Fitting R32 side skirts and colour coding
  • Fitting Edition 30 Rear (or just colour coding the original)

Also potentially thinking getting the Monza II's changed to either anthracite or black (one has developed a tiny bit of white worm and one has a 2cm scuff on the lip)

Anyway - search this forum a couple of times but could not find an posts that cover costs and part numbers for the above and recommendations for companies that supply them 9as cheaply as possible).

Also, anyone have a silver GTI with black Monza rims or anthracite ones?  Just looking to get an idea of what it will look like - only European edition 30 pictures I can find on the web are of a red car!

Cheers all and apologies if i missed something already posted.
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Right - for those interested:

Dealers have been pretty useless in getting me a price on a Votex Front splitter, but have given me a price of £180.06 plus VAT for the Edition 30 front splitter - so thats going to be my puchase!

As for R32 sides - they quoted £190+VAT for each side!!!!  Was totally shocked so will now ask a local body shop garage to quote for sanding the existing GTI skirts and colour coding those...

For the rear spoiler/bumper - I did consider the Edition 30 rear or the votex but costs are £300+VAT and rising for each one from a dealer, so will probably just get the existing bumper colour coded - but leave a section of it black to give it a bit more substance.

Will post up some pictures when work has been done.

What about getting the R32 rear? obviously you'll have to change the exhaust but thats just an excuse to mod the car further   The R32 rear comes up on ebay quite often and quite cheap so its just a case of finding it.

Dont!!  I am already being tempted by the R32 rear and the Milltek R32 exhaust mod for the GTi...  probably around £1000 in total for that mod (£200+VAT for bumper and trim, £450+ for cat back and then cost to paint!!)... which compared to teh cheap oiption of just colour coding the existing GTi rear is hard to justify - except that it would look sweet!!!

Definately doing the Edition 30 front though... only £180+ VAT for that part...

Yep - that is lovely - thats owned by "Rob-Mk5" who posts on this forum.  As mine is silver thats the look I would probably look to achieve at some point - but will probably not get the R32 rear done for a bit and just colour code the existing bumper and add the Edition 30 front (rather than the votex).
