Finally own a MK5
« on: 28 January 2009, 22:55 »
After joining ages ago i finally have a reason to be on here:

Was a joyous day despite the weather for me today. I got a train up to Birmingham (1st class for £17 - result!) and picked the car up! previous owner is a really nice guy who is only selling as he is off to Australia at the end of the year.

Some of you know but:

Its a 55 plate 3dr, in DBP with DSG at 30,000 miles and is stunning

Extras - Leather Recaros, cruise control, parrot car kit (probly more but nothing that really matters)

Despite the drizzle i had a great drive down the M40 and loved the V6, unbelievable noise and the car feels so solid in the wet, very strange feeling the power shift in the rear and shove you forward  :P Im amazed how quiet it is on the motorway, i hit silly speeds without realizing as the car does about 75mph at 3k rpm and 90mph at 3200rpm, so have to be careful! (not that this happened though officer)
Seats are amazing and were the key thing i looked for, all i need now is the rns510 touchscreen satnav (option from vw) and some nice carbon bits (possibly some BBS CH wheels but there quite common so not sure)

A few pics (i will get some more on weekend, these are the ad pics and not great)

Its great being able to use the power in the wet! Hurt my back coming out of a junction as i didn't realize just how much power i could put down, and it shoved me back while i was twisted looking the other way   :embarassed:

All in all i love it and was worth every penny, also managed 33mpg on the motorway with the cruise control on (for 15 minutes until it went back into sport  :  )

if you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay for this beauty... on the hunt myself and getting confused about what a fair price is!!!
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

I got it for 14750 (was up at 15,500) so there are some good deals out there, dont be too concerned with the ad prices as you can get some fair wedge off

Cheers
