16v rear calipers

will 16v gti calipers fit an 8v gti or would it need 16v hubs

rear brakes are the same on 8v and 16v. can also fit mk3 or 4 ones providing the hose as the right connection.

the rear calipers changed in around 87, so bear that in mind. but as said 8v/16v ones are the same, its the age you gotta look out for.  MK3 ones are a straight swap for the later MK2 calipers, MK4 will bolt up but you need conversion flexi hoses.

The early MK2 ones have the handbrake lever on the top, later have it underneath.  The reason for the difference is the handbrake lever changed, the early one has a pin holding it to a bracket welded to the floorpan, the later one is held to the chassis with 2 nuts.  Incidently the MK3 handbrake lever will fit a later MK2.

 So am I right in thinking an early MK 3 calliper would fit a November 91 MK 2  :embarassed:

where the early mk3's the same as the mk2's. Think you want the later mk3 ones as they have the internal handbrake mechanisms which don't seize

think the mk3 ones are more than capable plus you don't have to mess about with different brake lines. handbrake cable is the same for both. You still retain the mk2 pads for both setups  :smiley:
