Broken wire to hall sender...
« on: 24 January 2009, 14:19 »
I'm guessing this may have something to do with my oddly behaving rev counter.....

(it's the plug that goes to the hall sender)

Fingers crossed it will explain the random missfire at exacly 3k rpm and also maybe my coolant warning light flashing at 3k rpm.

How do I fix this? Obviously cut the wire back and re attach to the plug but I've got no idea how....

you really need to get the "pin" out of the connector

there is some tools auto electicians have for removing them without damaging the connector

speak with one close to you , he may help , other wise it is a struggle

but then just trim the wire back , reattach to the pin and solder a little bit then push the pin back into the connector :)

Go to a srap yard and get one off another car, cut the leads 5-6 inches away then soldier the leads together and insulate them.

if you look dowen the plug end you shoudl see some gaps, shove a watchmaker screwdriver down here and wiggle till the pins release.  Bit of soldering and you should be good to go

Cheers for the replies guys.

Think I'm gonna cut the plug off and re attach another, saves me messing with wires in the actual plug.

Does anyone know if the plugs to the hall sender are the same on 8v and 16vs?

aye same plug.  If it was me, I'd be down de scrappy, then attempt to pop a single wire out of a donor plug.  Then you can solder this wire and fit to your plug and only have the 1 patched wire, rather than 3 :)

Hi
I agree. Each patched wire is a potential problem area for the future, and the dizzy wires are not the ones to be messed with.
