MK2 big bumpers with small bumper indicators...
« on: 24 January 2009, 09:54 »
is it hard to convert the small indicators to fit a the big bumpers?

I just realised I don't have the bulb holders and Reading's GSF only has 1 in stock

Small bumpered indicators are held in with two screws and are slightly smaller than the large bumpered ones. Large bumpered ones have a tab that you have to slide in at one end, then a securing screw for the other end.
I guess you could bodge it in somehow, but it like anal sex. You can make it fit, but it aint right!

I called GSF Swindon I got a guy who knows bugger all! He was as useless, absolutely useless.

Got a worse problem now, been out side to get the bumper irons and bumpers bolted/secured together and the 'lugs' I guess you can call them seem to be buggered on the rears  Should plastic weld hold them together properly?

Look like plastic weld here?

Do you mean convert the lenses or the flashers?

ECP had them on the shelve when I went to buy some a while back - is there one near you?

A tip for the flashers... VW flashers are awesome quality - their made out of a bakelite type material, whereas cheap pattern parts are just soft-as-sh~t plastic.

I have the actual orange indicator part and backing, just need the bulb holders or somehow modify the small bumper indicator bulb holders...

I bought some Epoxy Weld to try and get the metal bumper iron stuck on the plastic via the lugs that are there but have just come off  :undecided:

PS: Phil, you have PM.

I bought a big bumper bulb holder including the loom from VW today for a pretty reasonable £5.97. Mine was originally small bumper so I had to reuse the original electrical clip though.
