16v rocker gasket
«

Evening chaps,
Ill be changing the rocker gasket on my 16v KR this weekend and was wondering if there is anything I should be aware of before I get going? I have a new gasket (obviously) and a new gasket that goes between the 2 parts if the intake manifold where it splits but apart from that is it as easy as releasing the throttle cable and the rubber boot from the filter housing?
Looks simple but if there is something else I should be aware of from someone thats done this job then a heads up would be appreciated!
Cheers, Tim

I'll be doing this as well in the next couple of weeks as I have a small oil leek from the back of the rocker cover to sort out.
Sure it should be straight forward but would be good to hear peoples past experiences eh?

Indeed, mine is leaking like a biatch from the back on the nearside of the engine and making a right mess

Mine's small luckily, but same place, near the dizzy?
I have heard the dizzy can also be a problem as over time it can fill with oil, leak etc...

Did you get 2 new rubber half moons in the gasket kit you bought? They ideally should be replaced at the same time as they can get quite perished.

The only other thing I can think of is be careful with the plastic HT lead holder - mine was very brittle and snapped.

there is a seal in the dizzy which you can replace, if you are worried about getting the dizzy back in the right place i normally score across the body of the dizzy with a screwdriver so i can line it back up in the same place it came off
