Removing Glue Left behind by Spoiler
« on: 22 January 2009, 10:36 »
I've recently bought a Bootlid which had a spoiler fitted. Not sure what sort of glue would be used to fit one of those but some has been left behind after the spoiler was removed. Is it possible to get the remainder of the glue off without damaging the paintwork?

All advice welcome.

Try lighter fluid mate paint will be fine.
Golf SOLD. Replaced with a Yamaha Raptor 660 quad and loving it. This will be replaced in August with a Raptor 700. Sold the quad now got a Vectra GSI 2.5 V6 and its the nuts.

the right solution is called a toffee wheel, which is a rubber wheel, that rubs the residue off, but as said as long as your clear coat isn't cracked you can use lighter fluid, white spirits etc (obviously we accept no responsibility if all your paint comes off)

no responsibility?! in this day and age of law suits?! I should think not sonny!

ok I'll give sprite a go but the glue it quite hard and chunky. Ideally need to remove that hardened bit first.

Any ideas? perhaps warming water?
